2010 Reiki Review Anapra, Mexico

Yesterday, I awoke at 0400 hrs, so excited to return to Los Ninos Clinic in Anapra, Mexico. The morning sun broke thru with some special angels flying overhead.  Jean checks to make sure I had loaded the car full of goodies for the Reiki Mothers.

Jean Ferris, Reiki Master, Sister Carol Wirtz, Maria Isabel Acosta, translator and myself journeyed across the Mexican border to the Proyecto Los Ninos in the colonia of Anapra. The long lines of traffic took 1.5 hours to get through the crossing.

All the Reiki mothers were there with with their joyous smiles, busily writing their Reiki experiences and happy to see "maestra, Jeem".

Jean presented the clinic with a poster stating the Reiki Precepts in Spanish.

We all shared our Reiki Experiences: the mothers are using Reiki on themselves, their family, friends and even people outside their immediate circles. Their confidence is building and their sharing profound. With all the violence in Mexico, one mother stated her older son was shot in the groin area at close range, so, not only was there a gunshot wound to heal, but second degree burns that would need skin grafting. With Reiki, both the wound and the burn healed and skin grafts were not necessary.

The special grab bags were filled with beautiful silk scarves for each mother. Each scarf was a perfect match for their outfit.

After we treated each other we had a delicious lunch of fried chicken, thai-peanut coleslaw and chocolate Christmas cake. I made the comment to the mothers," this is the only review that Jean feeds her students." They wanted to know why? Jean replied," this is the place where the student's gratitude of Reiki is so great."

I was moved to see how much the mothers had changed in one year. The Sisters of Charity do so many wonderful things for the mothers; from giving them a secure, safe place to administer therapeutic regimes, support each other, have personal make-overs, and become confident women trying to take care of their families in this drug-war torn country. I was also moved to see how 2 of the children who were present had changed. One girl was beginning to ambulate, while last year she did not have head control, and another very involved boy had developed some hand to mouth coordination, his smiles and laughing were greatly appreciated. Listening to Sister Carol give reports on the children was music to our ears. I took Maria Isabel into the other area of the clinic to show her the photos on the wall of all the children who had passed to the other side. There was Angel's photo who died last Feburary. His mother Isidra, is still having a hard time with his death. She cared for him for 26 years. Death is a breath away for some of the fragile children. It is all in God's hands who lives and who dies. It is always a reality check to hear the horror stories of how these ladies were ushered into this life. So, to see them vibrant, healthy and happy, is a milagro, a miracle. We really have to hold the Sisters of Charity and Jean Ferris in high esteem for doing such good
deeds. The changes are remarkable.

Emotional Healing

Today, I spoke with a friend, not knowing she was out of town. Her life long friend of 50 + years had died. She was able to get there the morning of her death. While she spoke, there was a strength in her voice, which rapidly started to disenergrate, as she stated the day before her departure, she had to euthanize her cat. Speaking about this event had a greater impact on her emotions than her friend dying. She was distraught, so I offered to send her a distant mental-emotional treatment which she readily accepted.

People's lives are filled with significant traumas. Another friend fell and fractured her neck, another friend fell and broke her back while another is trying to mend a broken heart. Yet others are dealing with cancer treatment choices, loosing their jobs or dealing with the death of a parent. The list goes on and on, and the scenarios seem to escalate with the passing of time
.
We have to have a steady state of mind-emotion-body and spirit to deal with the karmic roller-coaster that we are riding. Mental-emotional Reiki treatments are so effective during times of upheavel, dispair, anger, confusion and frustration. In a matter of minutes, the mind calms and becomes clear, the ruthless edge of emotional discharge is muted and we begin to think clearly and act rationally. We can then address our issues in a balanced fashion.

Reiki is such a simple solution to such complex human issues. Use it often, and let it take care of you, by bringing balance in an unbalanced world.

Balance and Integration of Our Bodies: Can It Really Be Achieved?

A long time Reiki friend and I were having a discussion yesterday on the phone about the fact that we are both in our 60's, our lives continue to get better, and we are both so grateful to be where we are in our lives. Mature, wise, successful singles, working on ourselves, and both anchored with solid spiritual foundations. While, I long to have all my bodies balanced and integrated, my focus and determination waxes and wanes. At times, I can get some of my bodies balanced, but it is a slippery slope that I'm climbing, and as soon as I include another body, a previous one slips into the waning shadows, and the illusive ring of balance and integration slips through the fingers of my hand. My friend, stated that she no longer thinks balance is a realistic option or goal, rather, life is an ebbing and flowing of priorities and goals, which allow us to focus in a timely fashion on what is needed in the moment. While being a boater, I agree with and like the analogy of ebbing and flowing, through the goals and priorities of one's life, there is another part of me that longs for and believes that balance and integration can be obtained in one's life.

My time spent on the Big Island in Healing Your Bodies 3 with Reiki Master Jean Ferris was profound in many ways. But one thing is certain, I have returned with a new sense of alertness, awareness and able to refocus and redefine my healing priorities. I am acutely aware of my shadowed past and how it impacts and sabotages my goals. I have the courage to face myself with new eyesight to see the things that prevent me from balance and integration of all my bodies and to see the truth of my being that will allow me to venture forth into a new dimension of focus.

Balance and integration are a process; a life-long process and it takes a life-long commitment. It is the marriage of the bodies with the soul. It is the fulfillment of our sacred contract. Do I believe balance and integration can be achieved? Deep within my heart of hearts, my soul, I do believe this and also know that it is the most difficult challenge of our lives, if we choose to follow the path to the finish line. We learn over time that in order to stay focused, and commited, we need to embrace our journey with love. The journey is our life, therefore, we need to love it, in order to be successful.

Reiki gives us exceptional tools and it is up to us to use them, day after day, year after year until....

Reiki Anniversary For Jean C. Ferris

12 of Jean's sponsors gathered on the Big Island, Hawaii to help Jean celebrate her 20th Anniversary of Reiki Mastery. We stayed at Kilauea Military Camp on the Big Island where the recent volcano activities drew deva-ju responses that took place 20 years ago for Jean's mastery initiation.

Jean sits respectfully in her initiation seat as gratitude fills her heart.

Flowers and photos of the Initiation  were laid on the mat so all could view...

The ocean responded with crashing waves atop the site.

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE ...

The week was filled with so many events, feelings that I am not able to process it all at this time and will try to add  more at a later time. 20 years ago when Jean was being initiated to Master I was living at Gurudev Siddha Peeth in Ganeshpuri, India. So, it was fitting that I be there for the anniversary celebrations. I loved hearing all the stories, seeing the initiation site was very special and getting to be with all the other sponsors made it an eventful time for me.

Hira Prepares For Hawaii

This coming week is a Big One as I prepare to join in the 20th Anniversary of Jean C. Ferris' Mastery Initiation on the Big Island of Hawaii. Twenty years ago Jean was initiated by Helen Haberly on 27 July 1990 into the Usui Shiki Ryoho circle of Masters. There will be a gathering of 12 of her sponsors from the Hawaiian Islands, Pacific Northwest, San Diego, and  Denver.

To honor this celebration, Jean will be offering for the first time the Healing Your Bodies #3 Workshop. We are all really excited about this trip, this course and getting to stay at Kilauea Military Camp will be special, as well. New vents are opening at the Kilauea Crater which is exciting. Also, we will get to see Jean's initiation site and listen to her sharings.

Stay tuned to this site and Jeans for future updates.

Reiki and Boat Bites

I'm on board my little diesel cruiser named Shatoosh. Yesterday as I  was cleaning up some locker spaces,  my hand got cut on a sharp, metal edge. I stopped and got a paper towel to stop the bleeding and immediately started to do Reiki on it. Today, it has already healed over, is not tender and I go about my day as tho nothing has happened to me.

Its as simple as that.

Reiki and The Ship's Bell

I received this ship's bell the other night from a friend. After researching the history of its ship; the SS Independence, our Reiki group decided that with its tormented history, we should treat it with loving Reiki from the universe. Afterwards, all the confusing information about this bell and history seemed to be sorted out. The bell was definately new and un-used and many of the individual parts did not fit together, as they would have, had it been on board and used on a daily basis.

As Reiki energy passed through us and we felt the energy of the bell, we experienced its vibration, we got to honor all living things, we felt  gratitude for this this gift and in the end the Truth is revealed. While this bell was clearly not the SS Independence's bell, but rather was given to someone who served faithfully on its bridge. I will honor this bell on board my vessel, Shatoosh, for years to come. Again, we get to see how Reiki carves out the truth from existing chaos and confusion and brings balance and harmony to all living things.

Reiki To The Rescue

Jean Ferris, Reiki Master arrived last night to teach Reiki in the Pacific NW. We stopped and had a spicy meal near the airport and by 0100 hrs, I was up in the bathroom throwing up in the trash can. I went downstairs and woke Jean up and together we treated me. Both of us lying in the recliner couch,  like a pair of well used book ends, she started sending me a distant treatment and I started hands on my belly. In a matter of a few minutes, I was no longer feeling that uncomfortable urge to run to the bathroom, but my stomach was still agitated and painful. A few more minutes the pain was gone and I was drifting off to sleep. Today, I am functioning slowly and as the day progresses, I am feeling more like myself and will be ready to sit in on the Reiki training tonight.

What would I do if I didn't have Reiki to tend to all the mysterious ailments that drop in so unexpectedly? I am always so grateful that I took my Reiki training and I continue to revel  in its magical and mystical qualities for 25 years. Domo Arigato Gozaimas, as they would say in ole Nippon.

Babe Mueller- Our Matriarch Passes On

Texas Blue Bonnets From Babe's Yard

Our wonderful family member, Babe, excarnated on Sunday morning, 11 April 2010. She passed during the early hours of the morning, while sleeping. She was loved and will missed by many. The matriarchal torch is now passed to her daughter, Georgia Ann. Again, Reiki helped Babe in many ways, but the most significant is always in the pain management realms. She was never in any pain, only discomfort when being moved or turned. Dying without pain is the hallmark of compassionate care and Reiki is the beacon of light which comes from the universe to soothe our suffering in our final days. How fortunate we are to have Reiki in our lives and how blessed each act of kindness becomes when we minister to the sick and dying.

Our Family Matriarch -- Babe (Adrienne) Mueller

Growing up she was always called Baby Sister, but Babe (Adrienne) is my mother's cousin, making her our first cousin once removed. She was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1919 and has lived her entire 90 years there. She has always been a special member of the family and known for her kind, gentle and fun loving personality. So when her health started to severely fail this month, everyone high tailed it to San Antonio to assist in Babe's care. We had 5 Reiki trained family members on hand with Jean Ferris, Reiki Master orchestrating care.

With her failing kidneys and rapidly falling blood pressure, she was transferered to an in house Hospice unit.
On one particular evening, I remained at the house, while her son and daughter went back to visit her. They called, as Babe was very restless in spite of all their efforts and asked if I could send a distant treatment.  They told Babe what I was doing and in a few seconds, she said quite emphatically,"its not working". They reassured her that it would work and  her son stated since the Hospice unit was several miles away and it would take some more time. Her son reported that he was becoming drowsy and thought, in his usual funny manner, that I had missed the target. Then, they noticed in a few minutes, her body started to relax, her tension started to diminish, her eyelids became droopy and she immediately fell asleep. This dramatic response, surprised them and at the same time reassured them, in the mystical power of Reiki. Several days later, while Babe was drifting in and out, she said, "can you tell me what Reiki does?" I answered her as simply as I could.

I'm back home now and feel very happy that I have Reiki in my life to support myself and others. It was an incredible honor to be able to partake in Babe's care; giving back to her all that love she shared with us thoroughout our lives. She is continuing to wear her matriarchal crown with dignity, as she journeys home to her maker. Blessings, Babe, you are loved by so many people and have touched so many people's hearts in your 90 years of joyous living.

Honoring Your Teachers

This past Christmas I wanted to connect with my old P.E. teachers from high school.  The next morning, while grocery shopping in El Paso, Jean and I ran smack- dab into one of them. Only divine intervention could have caused this. We had her over to dinner and relived all our old adventures together.

Through this event I was able to make contact with 2 other teachers, now living in different cities/states. We have been emailing and catching up after 50 years. All 4 of these teachers made such an impact on Jean and I in our last 2 years of high school. They were such wonderful role models for us. You could always talk to them about anything. They were all so special and throughout my life I have always remembered them.

One teacher stated that she was about to have heart surgery in March to repair a previous repair of a congenital hole. While she had never heard of Reiki, she agreed for me to send distant treatments to her during and after her operation. Her surgery was scheduled for 0800 hrs on the 3rd. I awoke early, and began treating her to coincide with her surgery time. Later, as I was leaving my boat to travel home, a voice stated that I needed to send a treatment now. I have learned to pay close attention to my inner voices. I pulled off the side of the road and sent another treatment.

Yesterday, I discovered  her surgery time was changed from 0800 to 1100, which was 1000 hrs my time. My second treatment then coincided with her actual surgery time. Divine orchestration and intervention again. She reports from her home that she is feeling grateful for Reiki, the Doctors, and everyone's prayers and good thoughts for her recovery. These treatments were given with love; for all my gratitude to her for showing me the way as a teenager. My life has been blessed by these teachers and, now, is the time to give back. Thank you Mrs. G, Mrs.T, Mrs. B, and J.C.

More on Isidra and Angel

I met Isidra during a Reiki review that Jean Ferris, Reiki Master was offering her students at the Proyecto Santos Nino Clinic in Anapra, Mexico this past December. Everyone present wrote up an experience of Reiki and then we all drew them from a box. I drew Isidra's experience. Eva Dominguez translated them for the group. Isidra stated her life had become filled with miracles regarding Angel, her 26 year old handicapped son. She was so filled with gratitude for Reiki and for Jean and this wonderful teaching.

I had placed the experience on my refrigerator and had added Angel's photo to it. Sister Carol had texted me from the clinic the other day, as the mothers were giving Isidra a Reiki treatment. So, I took this photo and sent it to Sister Carol, so she could show Isidra that I was thinking of her. Later in the morning and after her treatment, Isidra stated she had seen Angel and he was wearing white robes and looked very peaceful. She felt relieved and less saddened by his death.

It was nice of Sister Carol to make a connection with me that day and so I could send this photo to Isidra. Angel will be cremated and  have a funeral. Again, the Sisters of Charity, impact the lives of these devoted mothers and assist them through their grieving processes.

If you are touched by the work of the Sisters of Charity, please go to their website in the link section of this blog, to see how you may assist them.

Angel Passes to a New Realm

Word has come to me this morning that Isidra's 26 year old son, Angel has been freed of his human bondage. Over Christmas he received blessings from Father Denny and it was on this day that I met Angel. Isidra had pulled him to a standing position so that he could receive the blessing. His severe spasticity allowed this to take place, while the spasticity was markedly the worst I have seen. His legs were severely scissored in a crossed fashion, yet with the love and pride of a mother Isidra made certain that he would stand for this event.

In January, I helped Isidra bathe, dress, stretch out his limbs and give him a Reiki treatment. I watched her treat her son with kindess, gentleness and provide him with lots of love. She spoke to him with a soft, gentle voice, explaining to him what we were doing, encouraging him and sometimes teasing him. On some level, he seemed to understand, while he did not have any speech, he occationally smiled. His lungs were quite congested at the time and apparently they had gotten worse. Pulmonary complications seems to be the number one cause of deaths with the children.

"Remarkable", resounds, when I think of this mother and child. Isidra kept this child alive for 26 years under extreme and sub standard living conditions. It has only been a few years that they have been coming to the clinic, but during this time the quality of their lives has improved greatly, thanks to all the efforts of the Sisters of Charity.

I know in my heart that Isidra is grieving, so I will be sending them Reiki today. May the heavenly dieties bestow their blessings on Isidra and her son, Angel. They have gained much merit in this lifetime and hopefully in Angel's next incarnation he will have a much easier life.

While their lives were very difficult, Isidra was the epitome of living a life full of love. As I comptemplate a "mother's love", I will forever reflect on Isidra and Angel. They have touched my life in a way that no other has done.

Ft. Bliss Restoration & Resilience(R&R) Center

8 January 2010

I have looked forward to this day for some time. Today, Jean Ferris, Reiki Master, with her Reiki students; Glenda Bromberg(wife of the post Commanding General), myself and Program Director Dr. John Fortunato tour the beautiful facility which is the result of John's dream to promote a program for soldiers suffering from PTSD(post traumatic stress disorder), who have a strong desire to return to active duty. John, while being a psychologist and a Benedictine Monk, is transforming lives of the soldiers and their families using many innovative practices including Reiki as a treatment modality. The program is now in its 3rd year.
As we enter the facility our first stop is pause at the area which is dedicated to remembrances of all the fallen soldiers. The hand carved wooden plaques represent all the official head stones representing the recognized religions of the world. John had a local craftsman put this wall monument together. The soldiers begin their day at this spot paying homage to their own fallen friends. You can feel the incredible energy field that has been collected here. I could have stayed much longer, but the tour moves on, as John takes us through all the rooms and aspects of the program.

There are 12 therapy rooms which includes massage, biofeedback, Reiki, acupuncture, counseling to include individual and family and other rooms for meditation, yoga, tai chi and a recreation area. Other activities include water volleyball, field trips and simulated training activities. The program is very inclusive and is the first program to address treating all the bodies(mental, emotional, physical and spiritual) that are injured by multiple deployments in a combat situation.

Multiple deployments without recovery is the most damaging aspect to the human soul, as I see it. I discover that John and I were in the Republic of Viet Nam at the same time frame 1969-1970, he, being at Cam Ranh Bay and I, at Qui Nhon. I ask him if the current PTSD soldiers are more injured than the PTSD soldiers of Viet Nam and he answers,"yes, because of multiple deployments." He tells a story of a young soldier who was selected for the program. His PTSD was so severe that there was question as to whether he could return to active duty. The soldier pleaded to be included and was finally selected with reservations. His father stated, that when his son returned after the first deployment, they knew something was wrong. After the second deployment, their son was severely involved and after the third deployment, they no longer recognized this soldier as being the son they had raised. After the soldier had been through the majority of the program, John received a call from the father stating, "thank you for saving our son's life and giving him back to us." As John tells this story, we all become affected by it.

As John describes more in detail of the soldier's problems, it becomes evident how severe their injuries are. One of the great benefits of Reiki in the beginning of the program is the soldiers can finally get the well needed sleep that they need to heal. The result is that the dosages of sleep medications are reduced dramatically in the first 2 weeks. The severity of PTSD was an eye-opener for me. Cognitive dysfunction,( attention-memory deficits, paranoid ideation, obsessive rumination on combat traumas), avoidance and persistent arousal are just a few of the problems.

John goes on to speak about the 5HHT Gene, which regulates serotonin in the body. People who have a genetic variation called SS, have 4-6 times the chance of getting PTSD than people who have the ll variation. There are many soldiers who have had multiple deployments and can carry on with their duties without these grave consequences. John gave us 2 hours of his valuable time to share his passion, and his love for this special program. Not only is this program unique, but John is the kind of man who is helping our young soldiers heal their lives in a way that no other has done.

Having this tour, brings my attention to a long time desire of mine to offer Reiki to our soldiers at Ft Lewis. The time seems right to investigate its possibility this year.
The other night I went on line to see what is being offered at Ft Lewis, Wa. I ran across some files to assist soldiers in filling out their applications for PTSD evaluations by the VA. I downloaded the forms and to my surprise I found the instructions to be in a very compassionate format and encouraging the soldier to take their time in detailing their experiences, no matter how difficult the process it might be. Perhaps, a loved one or friend could write down the experiences, as they spoke. The questions probe deeper into the psyche and I found myself recalling my own Viet Nam/ military experiences. I could tell my heart rate was picking up, my hands became sweaty and I had a feeling of some kind of uncomfortableness within my being. When I reached the part where the instructions say, "if you are finding difficulty in answering the questions, take a break", which I did, and began giving myself a mental-emotional Reiki treatment.

While looking online, another area which surfaced were the commentaries regarding the Purple Heart Medal. This medal, of course, is given to all soldiers who have been wounded in action within a combat theater. Wounded, meaning the physical body, not the mental, emotional or spiritual body. As one Viet Nam veteran stated, I got the Purple Heart Medal for a shrapnel wound on my arm and by the time I received the medal, my wound was healed. Now, 40 years have passed, I can no longer see the scar, but I continue being plagued by nightmares and flashbacks of the war. Perhaps, it is time the Department of Defense re-visit their policies for dispersing this medal.

Reading these commentaries really opened my eyes. I am in disbelief, that the military isn't giving these soldiers the Purple Heart Medal. We have to stop thinking of soldiers being wounded only in their physical bodies. The physical body is the container for the soul, the mind, the emotions and the spirit and they are all connected and integrated. If any part of you is wounded, the whole is wounded and since we give a medal for being wounded, let all these wounded soldiers receive their Purple Heart Medal.

Thank you John, Jean, and Glenda for giving me this wonderful opportunity to see how lives are being changed at Ft. Bliss with the help of Reiki and for opening my eyes a little wider.

Donations Welcomed

My interactions with the Sisters of Charity and the Santo Nino Project in Anapra, Mexico were heart warming and provocative. In the colonia of Anapra, which is poverty stricken and torn apart by the drug cartel wars, these previously ostracized mothers with their special needs children, now radiate with the light of everlasting Hope. Three strikes and you are out, as the modern soothsayers expound, don't seem to apply. By the grace of God, three strikes you are in, when it comes to these families. The Sisters provide them with really amazing skills, improve their self-esteem, give them tools to support themselves and their children. Three times a week they have a safe place to take their children and receive incredible care. The clinic is a sight to behold and I will hold them in my hearts forever.

The Sister's mission is huge and impressive , but they need donations to continue their support. All who might read this blog, lives a life of great abundance and great fortune. We can always give something and 2010 seems like a good time to start. Please consider donating to this worthy cause. Go to their website to watch Sister Janet(MD) discuss the mission and speak about its accomplishments. http://www.proyectosantonino.org/

My Third Trip to Anapra Mexico

12 January 2010

The morning is really cold and in the low 40's. I join Sister Janet and Sister Carol and Siba at the New Mexico Convent. Siba is more than just a volunteer. She cooks all the lunches for the mothers 3X a week, provides for much of the support, by picking up and returning some of the mother's and children to the clinic and teaches Tai Chi when she is not doing a million other things. I feel in good company as we make our way across the Santa Teresa border crossing again. This time it is a clinic day, no special events going on. The children will be treated with baths, stretching, Reiki and the Mothers will have a Tai Chi session, be fed and supported as their new year begins.

It hasn't always been this way. Isidra, a mother of Angel who is now 26 years old. She continues to carry him from place to place as wheel chairs don't work in the sandy roads of Anapra. For decades she has struggled to take care of her son. She has been isolated, not having medical support, but they are both survivors and their lives have become better since the Sisters of Charity have created this clinic to provide the support she and her son need.

She is first on the scene and together we fill the whirlpool tub and get Angel into the warm water. She speaks to him in a soft, gentle voice and he seems to understand at some level and smiles back. He is totally incapacitated. We stretch his terribly spastic limbs and I marvel at his well defined musculature. He is an anatomy lesson in itself; as there is no body fat, just skin and bones and spastic muscles. He is quickly redressed, as the rooms are freezing even with the propane heaters. I give Isidra a break and carry Angel into the large room where she feeds him breakfast. Later we both give him a Reiki treatment together and I can get him into a flexed sitting position for the first time in his life of 26 years.

Sister Carol welcomes Brian back from the holiday break. He is very happy to see everyone, especially Sister Carol, who he calls Mom. Brian was born with spina bifida and a club foot, both of which has received surgical intervention. He is very bright and active. He goes to school now that the Sisters provide the diapers he needs for his incontinence. Carol and I give him a Reiki treatment after his bath and he has selected a newly clean outfit to wear. During his Reiki treatment he points to his back and says it hurts. We focus on that area and within minutes he smiles and states the pain is gone.

Two youngsters get bathed while another mother assists with the underwater stretching exercises.

A child receives his Reiki treatment from 2 other mothers.

Well padded mats allow one mother to put another child through a stretching routine.

I observe this child's sitting balance as she enjoys hearing the tuning fork that is set to the sound of Om. No wonder she is smiling. I would strike it and place it on her head and she would immediately sit up straighter.

The day winds down, but not before all the baths are done, the dishes are washed, the laundry is put into the hampers, the floors swept and mopped. All the mothers hug and kiss each other. It is clear that love permeates this environment. I am so moved by the dedication and care that is given by the Sisters and the mothers. It is truly inspiring to have been a small part of their process. I depart feeling full, and in awe of what has happened here in this desolate colonia of poverty and ravaged by the drug wars. A bright light is burning amidst the background of chaos. We can thank the Sisters of Charity, the volunteers and Jean Ferris for bringing Reiki into their world and for all the mothers who continue to come seeking help for their children.

For the other 2 visits to Anapra, please see photos and text in Jean's blog.

Reiki Talk Show With Phyllis Furumoto and Hira Reid

On Reiki Talk Show, Phyllis Furumoto interviews Hira Reid about Spiritual Lineage on 14 Jan 2010

Phyllis begins:

"We are One"! I remember thinking 30 years ago that this was some airy-fairy idea! In this interview, Hira Reid, a Reiki student of 25 years, assists me in seeing the reality and truth of "being one" with all mankind and the divine. Just as Mikao Usui was a seeker who found and experienced the truth, Hira, weaves the lineage teachings and practices of Reiki, Siddha Yoga, Genealogy and Mitochondrial DNA testing to seek, find the truth and experience the meaning of the "Eternal Thread of Oneness". In reality we are all related to "Mitochondrial Eve", the clan mother who lived in Africa over 200,000 years ago and, therefore, we are all one.

Tune in at http://www.reikitalkshow.com/ to hear the interview.

A Christmas Blessing for my Reiki Hands

December 2009:
I am spending Christmas with my twin sister, Jean Ferris, Reiki Master in the El Paso, Texas area. Among her many students, there is a special group of mothers and children who have been helped by the Sisters of Charity and Reiki in a small colonia in Anapra, Mexico. I have heard about them for years and have wanted to make a special visit to see them.

Today is special, as Father Denny of Juarez, is blessing all the handicapped children who come to Proyecto Los Ninos. At the end of the session and before lunch is served to over 40 families, he gives Jean and I unexpected blessings. I am surprised, as he bends down and asks, "would you like to be blessed?" I reply, "can you bless my hands?" and he responds with, "to do what"? I quickly say surprisingly,"to do God's work". The divine has just stepped into my space and taken over. I am always appreciative for Grace and grateful for its action in my life. Thank you, God for this sweet and prophetic blessing. I will put it to good use this year.

See Jean's blog to view many wonderful photos of our journeys across the border.
