Reiki And The Autonomic Nervous System

The ANS is the automatic wiring of our system. It is the "Flight or Fight" response that controls all our organs, glands and systems. In today's hectic lifestyles, people in great numbers are living unbalanced lives, can't sleep without sleeping pills, have hypertension, heartburn, gastric reflux, auto-immune diseases, and are driving their bodies in high gear with multi tasking, and people are out of control. They are swinging on the extreme ends of the pendulum. Rage, fear, depression, hyperactivity, The list goes on and on, chaos prevails and I sit in my favorite Reiki chair and send treatments to lots of friends.

Reiki brings balance to all the organs, glands and systems. One treatment will support our internal foundation. I've been contemplating this the last few days, so this is what I'd like to share.
Since we are all hard-wired for the autonomic response we can look at each body and ask, " Am I wired for flight or fight?"

I consider my spiritual body as one that is steady and stands firm no matter what is happening in my life.

My mental body certainly stands firm and will fight, if push comes to shove.

My physical body is wired for fight, but with age the grip to fight seems to lessen.

My emotional body, as is with most people, was fragile from birth and would run as fast as it could away from any confronting situation, however, with time and lots of work, I have learned to be there in the middle of confrontation, not running away or fighting.

Reiki provides each of us to neutralize the extreme reactions, to bring balance in a chaotic life, to give our overworked glands, systems and organs a moment of rest, reprieve and an opportunity to regain balance in an unbalanced life. Life is a teeter totter, we are riding up and down all the time, but Reiki provides such an incredible fulcrum that creates equanimity at every swing of the pendulum.

I wrote an aphorism several years ago:
Become an action figure
Not a reaction figure

Reiki Hands In The Sands

Recently, I was at White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. Someone had placed their hands in the beautiful white sand which is made of gypsum. I couldn't pass up this wonderful photo opportunity. The purity of the dunes and energy  is breath-taking. My great niece, Georgia, has fun making a "Sand Angel". I reflect upon the joyous nature of Reiki and how pure the form and essence is. After sliding down a dune, Georgia says, "I tried it and liked it, lets do it again". So it is, with all of us, we tried it (Reiki) and we liked it, so we do it again and again.

2010 Reiki Review Anapra, Mexico

Yesterday, I awoke at 0400 hrs, so excited to return to Los Ninos Clinic in Anapra, Mexico. The morning sun broke thru with some special angels flying overhead.  Jean checks to make sure I had loaded the car full of goodies for the Reiki Mothers.

Jean Ferris, Reiki Master, Sister Carol Wirtz, Maria Isabel Acosta, translator and myself journeyed across the Mexican border to the Proyecto Los Ninos in the colonia of Anapra. The long lines of traffic took 1.5 hours to get through the crossing.

All the Reiki mothers were there with with their joyous smiles, busily writing their Reiki experiences and happy to see "maestra, Jeem".

Jean presented the clinic with a poster stating the Reiki Precepts in Spanish.

We all shared our Reiki Experiences: the mothers are using Reiki on themselves, their family, friends and even people outside their immediate circles. Their confidence is building and their sharing profound. With all the violence in Mexico, one mother stated her older son was shot in the groin area at close range, so, not only was there a gunshot wound to heal, but second degree burns that would need skin grafting. With Reiki, both the wound and the burn healed and skin grafts were not necessary.

The special grab bags were filled with beautiful silk scarves for each mother. Each scarf was a perfect match for their outfit.

After we treated each other we had a delicious lunch of fried chicken, thai-peanut coleslaw and chocolate Christmas cake. I made the comment to the mothers," this is the only review that Jean feeds her students." They wanted to know why? Jean replied," this is the place where the student's gratitude of Reiki is so great."

I was moved to see how much the mothers had changed in one year. The Sisters of Charity do so many wonderful things for the mothers; from giving them a secure, safe place to administer therapeutic regimes, support each other, have personal make-overs, and become confident women trying to take care of their families in this drug-war torn country. I was also moved to see how 2 of the children who were present had changed. One girl was beginning to ambulate, while last year she did not have head control, and another very involved boy had developed some hand to mouth coordination, his smiles and laughing were greatly appreciated. Listening to Sister Carol give reports on the children was music to our ears. I took Maria Isabel into the other area of the clinic to show her the photos on the wall of all the children who had passed to the other side. There was Angel's photo who died last Feburary. His mother Isidra, is still having a hard time with his death. She cared for him for 26 years. Death is a breath away for some of the fragile children. It is all in God's hands who lives and who dies. It is always a reality check to hear the horror stories of how these ladies were ushered into this life. So, to see them vibrant, healthy and happy, is a milagro, a miracle. We really have to hold the Sisters of Charity and Jean Ferris in high esteem for doing such good
deeds. The changes are remarkable.

Emotional Healing

Today, I spoke with a friend, not knowing she was out of town. Her life long friend of 50 + years had died. She was able to get there the morning of her death. While she spoke, there was a strength in her voice, which rapidly started to disenergrate, as she stated the day before her departure, she had to euthanize her cat. Speaking about this event had a greater impact on her emotions than her friend dying. She was distraught, so I offered to send her a distant mental-emotional treatment which she readily accepted.

People's lives are filled with significant traumas. Another friend fell and fractured her neck, another friend fell and broke her back while another is trying to mend a broken heart. Yet others are dealing with cancer treatment choices, loosing their jobs or dealing with the death of a parent. The list goes on and on, and the scenarios seem to escalate with the passing of time
.
We have to have a steady state of mind-emotion-body and spirit to deal with the karmic roller-coaster that we are riding. Mental-emotional Reiki treatments are so effective during times of upheavel, dispair, anger, confusion and frustration. In a matter of minutes, the mind calms and becomes clear, the ruthless edge of emotional discharge is muted and we begin to think clearly and act rationally. We can then address our issues in a balanced fashion.

Reiki is such a simple solution to such complex human issues. Use it often, and let it take care of you, by bringing balance in an unbalanced world.

Balance and Integration of Our Bodies: Can It Really Be Achieved?

A long time Reiki friend and I were having a discussion yesterday on the phone about the fact that we are both in our 60's, our lives continue to get better, and we are both so grateful to be where we are in our lives. Mature, wise, successful singles, working on ourselves, and both anchored with solid spiritual foundations. While, I long to have all my bodies balanced and integrated, my focus and determination waxes and wanes. At times, I can get some of my bodies balanced, but it is a slippery slope that I'm climbing, and as soon as I include another body, a previous one slips into the waning shadows, and the illusive ring of balance and integration slips through the fingers of my hand. My friend, stated that she no longer thinks balance is a realistic option or goal, rather, life is an ebbing and flowing of priorities and goals, which allow us to focus in a timely fashion on what is needed in the moment. While being a boater, I agree with and like the analogy of ebbing and flowing, through the goals and priorities of one's life, there is another part of me that longs for and believes that balance and integration can be obtained in one's life.

My time spent on the Big Island in Healing Your Bodies 3 with Reiki Master Jean Ferris was profound in many ways. But one thing is certain, I have returned with a new sense of alertness, awareness and able to refocus and redefine my healing priorities. I am acutely aware of my shadowed past and how it impacts and sabotages my goals. I have the courage to face myself with new eyesight to see the things that prevent me from balance and integration of all my bodies and to see the truth of my being that will allow me to venture forth into a new dimension of focus.

Balance and integration are a process; a life-long process and it takes a life-long commitment. It is the marriage of the bodies with the soul. It is the fulfillment of our sacred contract. Do I believe balance and integration can be achieved? Deep within my heart of hearts, my soul, I do believe this and also know that it is the most difficult challenge of our lives, if we choose to follow the path to the finish line. We learn over time that in order to stay focused, and commited, we need to embrace our journey with love. The journey is our life, therefore, we need to love it, in order to be successful.

Reiki gives us exceptional tools and it is up to us to use them, day after day, year after year until....

Reiki Anniversary For Jean C. Ferris

12 of Jean's sponsors gathered on the Big Island, Hawaii to help Jean celebrate her 20th Anniversary of Reiki Mastery. We stayed at Kilauea Military Camp on the Big Island where the recent volcano activities drew deva-ju responses that took place 20 years ago for Jean's mastery initiation.

Jean sits respectfully in her initiation seat as gratitude fills her heart.

Flowers and photos of the Initiation  were laid on the mat so all could view...

The ocean responded with crashing waves atop the site.

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE ...

The week was filled with so many events, feelings that I am not able to process it all at this time and will try to add  more at a later time. 20 years ago when Jean was being initiated to Master I was living at Gurudev Siddha Peeth in Ganeshpuri, India. So, it was fitting that I be there for the anniversary celebrations. I loved hearing all the stories, seeing the initiation site was very special and getting to be with all the other sponsors made it an eventful time for me.

Hira Prepares For Hawaii

This coming week is a Big One as I prepare to join in the 20th Anniversary of Jean C. Ferris' Mastery Initiation on the Big Island of Hawaii. Twenty years ago Jean was initiated by Helen Haberly on 27 July 1990 into the Usui Shiki Ryoho circle of Masters. There will be a gathering of 12 of her sponsors from the Hawaiian Islands, Pacific Northwest, San Diego, and  Denver.

To honor this celebration, Jean will be offering for the first time the Healing Your Bodies #3 Workshop. We are all really excited about this trip, this course and getting to stay at Kilauea Military Camp will be special, as well. New vents are opening at the Kilauea Crater which is exciting. Also, we will get to see Jean's initiation site and listen to her sharings.

Stay tuned to this site and Jeans for future updates.
